With export turnover of 450 million USD in December, leather shoes sector has over-fulfilled over 200 million USD of 2008 export indicator, stayed 4.69 billion USD. The Chief of Vietnam Leather Shoes, Nguyen Duc Thuan, told the reason was that the delivery of commodities soon for spring-summer crop in 2009. Leather shoes sector has gained export quota of 9.1 instead of 9.5 billion USD after 12 months. According to General Department of Statistics, export turnover of textile and garment sector in December, 2008 will be 724 million USD, decreased 60 million USD compared to that of last month. According to Chief of Vietnam Association of Textile and Garment, Le Quoc An, the reason is American market, the main export one, has been faced with many big changes.
