The decline in export showed that Vietnam shoes exporters have approached to domestic market that has been overwhelmed by foreign markets, especially China and Thailand. General Statistics Office announced that order forms from key markets of Vietnam, such as America, EU or Japan has decreased strongly. For the past two months, shoes export of Vietnam reached only 658 billion USD, decreased by 7.3% compared with the same time of 2008. Vietnam shoes producers have not mastered the domestic market because shoes on world markets have more beautiful design and cheaper price. Mr. Vu Van Minh - Director of Vietnam Shoes Corporation said that shoes consumption on domestic market decreased by 30-40% compared with the same time of 2008.
