According to an official statistic, in January 2009, there were 1.318 cars imported with import turnover of 27 million USD. In February, although the import turnover reached about 30 million USD, the number of imported car was a half compared with January. Totally, import turnover of car in first two months of 2009 was a half compared with the turnover in December 2008 (reached 57.3 million USD with the sales of 2.000 cars). The decline in car import turnover was originated from the world economic depression. Most consumers and enterprises tightened their spending. On the market, the sales and import price have decreased strongly. Only Netherlands and Korea were the greatest car suppliers of Vietnam, reached 226 cars in January with value of 10.3 million USD, decreased in both sales and value compared with December, 2008 and the same time of 2008. However, car import from Netherlands increased strongly, reached 776 cars with a value of 6.88 million USD. Thus, Netherlands won China to become the second great car supplier of Vietnam in this month.
